My name is Angelina. I grew up in Ogden, Utah. I’ve always had a huge passion for animals and I have always figured I would end up working with them. Though, there was a point in high school when I wanted to be a nurse. I loved science and I liked people and wanted my career to involve people. After all, you can have any career without some involvement of people. I was obsessed with medical shows like untold stories of the ER, Dr. Pimple Popper, Grey’s Anatomy, Botched Surgery, etc. I thought it would be so cool to be a nurse anesthetist because you make bank and you get to put people out. As for all jobs though, you have to start at the bottom. You have to do entry level work. In nursing you start as a CNA, and there is no way around it, so I enrolled in a CNA Course for the summer before my senior year, but it was HORRIBLE. So I dropped out of it. I liked all the book work, I hated the way it was structured. The teachers were bad teachers, you were on your own basically. At the time, I was also working at Walmart as a sales associate. To say the least, my tolerance for people day to day dropped extremely low and I realized Walmart and Nursing were not for me.
My senior year was when I decided that a career wouldn’t be worth having unless it involved animals as much as possible. So after I graduated high school, I quit my job at Walmart and got hired as a kennel technician at Idlewire Pet Care in South Ogden, Utah. It was an awesome starter job for me. I learned so much, but I also had a lot of experiences with dogs that have immensely impacted me as a person and a caregiver and trainer of animals. Most of the dogs I write about here are from when I worked at Idlewire Pet Care. One is from a childhood pet, and a couple are from working at Train Walk Poop in South Salt Lake City, Utah. Some will be from volunteering at local animal shelters.
